Finally over..
Yeah!!! The much dreaded presentation of my thesis was finally over on last Thurs haha. Last week I was working like almost 12 hrs a day: wake up; bathe; eat breakfast; look at computer; eat lunch; look at computer again; eat dinner; look at computer again before sleep at 3am. And the worst thing was, I haven't even finalised my paper due to requirements for last min changes so I couldn't really start working on the powerpoint slides until Wednesday. I only manage to finish it on the day before the presentation, so it was pretty nightmarish for me to start doing the powerpoint slides at midnight.
In then end, I only managed to finish it at 3pm on the day of my presentation while the actual thing starts at 4pm! There was simply no time to even check the slides or to rehearse my presentation (fortunately there's no 3 typo errors) I still remember that my hands were actually shaking after finishing the slides and getting ready to go to school. Luckily my dad sponsered me to take a cab down, else I think I would be late for my own presentation. It was pretty heng that I was the earliest to reach the seminar room, so at least I can set up the computer and projector and get ready before my supervisors and professors arrived.
Luckily, the presentation went through smoothly. My supervisor was there to help me answer most of the questions from the two professors who have came to view my presentation. But it was pretty embarrassing that my supervisor pointed out two of my typo errors. Oops. After piahing through the whole week, i pretty much didn't care about it liao; just wanted to finish it as soon as possible. To my relief, my supervisor congrats me after the end of my presentation. Ha..so I finally can relax and make the appropriate changes to my paper before submitting it. Simply can't wait for the day whereby I can actually stop looking at thesis.
Gave myself a good break by going to play basketball the next day, then meet up with frens. On sat, went to meet up with fornax friends and stay over at omi's home. Long time didn't have a good chat and crapping session with them liao haha. Omi, great thanks for the great hospitality and breakfast!
Almost Home Alone
My parents and my younger bro have left to tour Xiamen since last Tuesday, leaving me and my elder bro at home. And since my elder bro wasn't at home most of the time except for night time, so almost home alone for the past 1 week. It's finally the time to be independent, taking charge of the homehold chores and making sure that home does not end up a mess after they left. No more being lazy and just concentrate on writing my thesis. So these are the things that I have accomplished for the first time in my 24 and a half years:
1) First time completing all the processes required to do my laundry: washing and scrubbing my clothes, whincing the clothes dry and hanging them on the poles to dry. Even though I have stayed at PGP before, the laundry process there is much easier: simply throw into the washing machine and the dryer later.
2) Ironing all the dried clothes
3) Trying to cook a decent dinner for myself cos getting sick of hawker food. Was thinking of cooking yong tau foo with noodles. Sounds easy right? Simply boil the water first, put the yong tau foo to be cooked first, followed by adding in noodles and vegetables. Wrong... my noodles still ended up soggy, maybe cos I took some time trying to pluck the vegetables first b4 putting them in. Even though I added pepper and soya sauce, the flour of the yong tau foo simply overwhelmed my soup. Totally yucky, but have to finish all of them up; I can't throw simply throw them away right? Shouldn't waste food. Lesson learned: Cook the yong tau foo and noodles separately, can't put both of them in the same bowl. But after this incident, don't dare to cook dinner for myself again.
4)Making daily breakfast for myself. I was used to making milo for myself but after finishing the raisin buns, my brother bought back a loaf of pandan bread. Dun know whether I have a tendency to pick food or what, but the bread taste terrible. Ended up going to the coffee shop to buy buns for breakfast.
5) Tidying up the newspaper stacks. Leaving them around on the table is quite terrible. Especially when my dad ordered both english and chinese papers. Not tidying them for merely 2 to 3 days will end up having a huge mountain of newspapers on the table. But luckily, it doesn't take much effort to do it.
6) Nekki finally gained permission from my parents to stay overnite at my home cos we wanted to watch the soccer match of Germany vs Argentina. Finally don't have to watch soccer at the coffee shop together and can have the pleasure of watching the action close up together. And most important of all, can have a comfortable sleep on my own bed after watching it. Hee..and most of all, can enjoy the milo drink made by nekki on the next morning.
The above things doesn't sound too exciting, but somehow feel quite proud of myself for being able to wear my clothes that are washed and ironed by myself. Shows that I can take good care of myself and maintaining the home. Through doing all these chores, learned to appreciate my mum more. Can imagine that it's so tiring to take care of the home throughout all these years. So will try to help out my mum more next time in future. And of course, special thanks to dear for coming down to accompany me for dinner. Hope that he won't be so tired ah.
Think I will be home alone again in sept when my parents go tour again, perhaps I will learn more things then!
